Regression Sessions follow up their firing first EP with a second sizzler, this time from Toyboy & Robin with a remix from Russ Yallop. Featuring two cuts of the sort that get Regression Session parties around the UK pumping, they ensure the young label remains totally essential.

This UK pair have been serving up the goods since 2012 on labels like MTA Records and Sccucci Manucci. They have a heads down, groovy house sound as evidenced here across both compelling new cuts.

The self titled ‘Palace' goes first. It is a deep, smooth and atmospheric house cut with nice soft drums, dubby chords and wide open feel that really sucks you in as it rolls on. 'This That' is more percussive and loopy, with circular drum rotations getting you on your toes as filtered vocal stabs and distant rattles help drive it along.

Crosstown Rebels regular Russ Yallop then serves up a remix of Palace that is fresh and clean, with nice skewed synth stabs and some dreamy melodies all underpinned by busy hi hats and claps. It’s one to get the club pumping, especially once the firing female vocal comes in and sets the whole thing on fire.

Serious Music For Silly People.

Regression n. A mechanism leading to the temporary reversion of the ego to an earlier stage of development rather than handling unacceptable impulses in a more adult way. ✯ ✯ ✯

Regression Sessions is a night that does what it bloody well pleases and suggests you do the same. We are tired with always having to choose between quality music events rammed with chin-stroking heads, or venues offering unpretentious fun with a disappointing soundtrack. Lucky for London, Regression Sessions is here to let you have a cake and eat it too.
