Ian Mayer - Sambuca EP
Our next EP comes courtesy of Ian Mayer, an artist from whom the industry has seen a steady stream of rock-solid production in recent years. Note-able releases have come via labels ANCL Lincor, Lincor Apex and the Balkan Connection.
Mayer gets the ball rolling here with ‘Jungle’. As it’s title suggests, a tribal thumper is the order of the day. With an undeniably infectious groove at it’s bedrock, the soundscape is expertly carved to allow a body of optimistic melodic ideas to flicker into life.
Second track ‘Connection’ is an altogether tougher, more progressive affair. The breakdown is nothing short of epic, owing to a monstrous saw-wave lead which has been marinaded in cinematic reverb. This stands alone in parts, slicing through the soundscape before being harmonised with an energy-laden percussive underbelly.
‘Sambuca’ is deeper. Mayer’s penchant for percussive-led grooves are again in evidence as a series of humanised, tribal-infused drums stand proud. Ethereal melodics are introduced to cast a more atmospheric, textured reflection upon it’s character. Utterly danceable and a beautifully accomplished finale for this triumph of a triumvirate.
We hope you enjoy.
