Dexys Midnight Runners - You've Got The Love (inc. David Holmes / Steve Mac Remixes)

Dexys Midnight Runners release a new single, ‘You’ve Got The Love’, the latest track to be taken from their forthcoming new album, 'LOVE', out on Friday 4th September 2026 on Heavenly Recordings.

Following on from the last single, ‘My Life In England Pt.1’, ‘You’ve Got The Love’ swirls with a melodious, timeless string section, a Philly disco rhythm track and a vocal from Kevin Rowland that makes the most of the song's simple and effective title. Play loud.

Talking about the track, Kevin Rowland said:

"It’s nothing to do with the house track of the same name. When we started writing, I went to Mike [Timothy], and said: have you got any ideas? and he sent me some, and I picked out two or three, which ended up on the album, and this was one of them. It was really simple. I was seeing a woman at the time, and I wrote the lyric, and Mike and I messed around until we were happy with it. The woman is not in my life any more, so I’ve never told her I wrote it. I suppose I should. It might be nice for her to know."

For the discerning dance floors, Heavenly unveil a pair of promo only remixes from 'LOVE' album producer David Holmes, and Brighton based Steve Mac.

David Holmes - Heavenly hero and producer of Dexys Midnight Runners' phenomenal new album 'LOVE'- takes 'You've Got The Love' apart and rebuilds it as a dreamy psychedelic trip to get lost inside, one driven by an irresistible bassline, a highly percussive rhythm track and vocals that drift in and help raise the temperature a few more degrees. Perfect music for endless summer nights.

Brighton based producer Steve Mac's Classic Remix takes the original track by the hand and walks it onto the dancefloor, upping the tempo, upping the disco, and upping the feel good feeling that's right at the heart of the song. A Dexys song custom designed to soundtrack 2am disco sessions the world over.

'LOVE' is a deeply personal and emotionally rich album that may mark the final chapter in Dexys Midnight Runners extraordinary musical journey. Their first release under the Dexys Midnight Runners name since 1985’s 'Don’t Stand Me Down', 'LOVE' gathers stories spanning Kevin Rowland’s life - from his 2nd generation Irish childhood and family relationships to late-life romance, loss and reconciliation.

Built around themes of love in all its forms, the album moves beyond traditional romance to explore ageing, memory and emotional connection. The album was produced by Belfast musician / DJ David Holmes, aided and abetted by Peter Schweir with additional contributions from long-time collaborators Sean Read, Mike Timothy, Jim Paterson and string arranger Brian Irving.

Additionally, having recently announced a U.K. and Irish tour, Dexys Midnight Runners have added an extra London show due to demand and make a number of in-store appearances the week of album release which include a mix of signing and stripped back performances.

The dates will also be the first time Dexys, fronted by Kevin Rowland, have toured under the name of Dexys Midnight Runners since 2003, when they played a sold-out show at London’s Southbank Centre.

Dexys Midnight Runners - 'You've Got The Love', is released on the 29th of July via Heavenly Recordings, to be followed by the album, 'LOVE' on the 4th of September.
