CAMZ - BRAZILIAN TEA
November 2024 — Brazil — Lady of the House, a globally respected platform that champions & amplifies women in dance music, is thrilled to announce its inaugural demo competition in Brazil. Designed to elevate women and non-binary producers within the country's vibrant electronic music scene. Spearheaded by recently appointed Brazilian ambassador CAMZ, the competition aims to spotlight emerging talent while championing gender diversity in music production.
Winners will be handpicked by a powerhouse jury of Lady of the House A&R Godmothers: globally renowned techno artist ANNA, forward-thinking producer Joyce Muniz, and Aninha, the iconic resident DJ of Brazil’s legendary D-EDGE club. Together, these influential figures will play a pivotal role in advocating for local artists, ensuring their talent reaches the global stage and helping drive greater representation in the electronic music industry.
Supported by industry giants like Beatport, LabelWorx, D-EDGE, and Drumsheds, this competition offers career-defining opportunities Previous winners were selected by past Godmothers such as Defected’s Sam Divine, Becky Hill & BBC’s Jaguar & Charlie T. They have since gained major backing from Spotify, SoundCloud, and top music media, landing bookings at Hï and Amnesia (Ibiza), Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), and radio features.
The Brazil edition is set to create even more buzz, offering winners a massive prize package with all the tools to kickstart their careers and gain global exposure. Prizes include DJ / Production tools from Beatport, Novation & more, photo shoots, performance slots, expert mentoring sessions, and a record release with a solid promotional campaign on Lady of the House Records. This is the ultimate launchpad for Brazil’s next wave of talent.
Leo Janeiro, a pioneer of Brazil’s dance music scene and part of the demo campaign team, said, “Seeing CAMZ lead this initiative is incredible. Her contributions are transformative. It’s essential for men to support opportunities for women. Carl Cox’s foreword in Lady of the House Book powerfully underscores the importance of this movement.’”
To add some inspiration CAMZ releases her second imprint on the label, "Brazilian Tea," on December 6th, 2024. Describing it as “a groover—sassy, catchy, and a little bit nasty,” she aims to flip the traditional Brazilian Funk narrative with female-driven lyrics. “Women have been called witches for our power to seduce and mesmerize. ‘Brazilian Tea’ is my potion. Drink up, Buttercup!” Her first release, Odd Future feat Anek with the label earlier this September garnered support from Jamie Jones, Marco Carola, Melaine Ribbe & Joseph Capriati
CAMZ said, "I know firsthand the power of Lady of the House and how being part of a supportive community can transform an artist’s career. I want to help as many women in Brazil experience the same opportunities, so they can thrive and enjoy the journey as much as I have."
The competition opens 6th December 2024 and closes 29th January 2025. Winners will be selected shortly after this, good luck to everyone.
