Nilsix, Orjan Nilsen, Mark Sixma – Nostalgia [Dreamstate Records]

More than three years deep into the project, nilsix is the powerhouse pairing of two prolific phenoms: Norwegian producer Ørjan Nilsen and Dutch staple Mark Sixma. They are returning to Dreamstate Records to release their seventh single since launching the collaborative endeavor in 2023.

"Nostalgia" is an uplifting trance record that lives up to its namesake. Tapping into the genre's origins, the duo infuses hallmark melodies from early Balearic trance, with lush, sweeping guitar riffs and captivating vocals imbued with a timeless quality. Its emotive lyrics reminisce about the good old days, while pulsating basslines, frothy acid flourishes, dreamy pad swells, and warm, massive synth leads nod to trance roots and its undeniable resurgence. On the B-side, they offer a classic Balearic Mix to round out the release. They recently graced the label with their "Blast From the Past," one of the lead single from the '10 Years of Dreamstate' compilation.
