John Morales - Can You Handle It

John Morales presents his latest reimagining, “Can You Handle It,” a ground-up remake of one of his all-time favorite disco classics. Originally recorded by Sharon Redd on the legendary Prelude Records label in 1980, the track gets a full contemporary reinterpretation under Morales’ skilled direction. Alongside keyboardist Gary Hudgins and guitarist Brian Lucas, Morales breathes new life into the timeless anthem while honoring its original energy and funk-driven spirit.

Built entirely from scratch, this new version pulses with a fresh, club-ready groove – a more up-tempo and modern blend of classic disco soul and today’s dancefloor sophistication. The recording is elevated further by Tasha LaRae’s powerful vocal performance and the unmistakable sound of Lovely Laura’s elegant saxophone work, bringing warmth and flair to every measure. The result is a stylish and modern homage that feels as timeless as its inspiration.
