sfam – Cash Only [Bassrush Records]

New Orleans duo sfam return to Bassrush Records with ‘Cash Only,’ a two-track EP pushing further into the experimental edges of bass music. Out October 3rd, the release marks their first standalone project on the imprint and pairs them with LA-based producer snuffy, whose breakbeat-driven 140 aesthetic slots naturally into sfam’s warped sonic world.

On the title track “Cash Only,” sfam and snuffy twist leftfield instincts into a swamp-soaked dubstep workout. Elastic bass pressure and croaking leads spar across wide-open negative space, while sharp breakbeat percussion carves restless momentum. The result is a slow-building storm where sfam’s amorphous design collides seamlessly with snuffy’s razor-edged 140 grit. Its counterpart, “Keep the Change,” stretches the EP into even stranger terrain—a warped, off-kilter cut where low-end weight and disorienting textures bend the boundaries of groove and abstraction.
