YUNGBLUD - Loner

Yorkshire born singer-songwriter Yungblud has released new track ‘Loner’ which premiered exclusively on Radio 1’s Indie Show with Jack Saunders. Alongside the new track, Yungblud has unveiled the accompanying video which was directed by himself and Unthank Alliance. The video was filmed in locations around Yungblud’s hometown of Doncaster including the venue where he played his first shows at and his Nan’s house!

Of ‘Loner’, Yungblud said:

'I created this track because it’s a reflection of where I’m from and who I am. I wanted to invite my fans and people who might not know me yet into my front room and to have a cup of tea with them. I wanted to show them what Dom looks like going to get a glass of water at 2am. At the end of the day, I needed to tell myself no matter what happens or how far this thing goes, that I am just a 21-year-old kid from the north of England who has been put in this position by his fans. If I ever forget that I’m in dangerous water.’

'We shot the video in my Nan's house, with my mates from school and also in the venue I played my first shows in. The track reflects how alone I felt my whole life no matter how many people seemed to be around me. It reflects why I wake up when the sun is shining and get a knot in my stomach without actually knowing why. I was listening to so much 90s Britpop when I wrote it, and typical me, I wanted to add that into the mix of my sound but in a modern way with a fresh perspective. When producing it I wanted to take the size of the sound up by 5 gears. I have been playing this song on the road with my band for a year straight and every night there was just an electricity created by it that just filled the whole room up - I needed to capture that on record. When you put your headphones on I want you to feel like you're at one of my shows. It’s the first time I brought my boys (Adam Warrington, Guitarist & Michael Rennie, Drums) in to the studio to play and they blew me away. I’m so excited to release it.'

Last week, Yungblud kicked off his huge European Tour in Paris, which will hit the UK in March (see dates below). With over 90million streams to date, 2019 is looking to be a massive year for Yungblud who has just been unveiled as Rock Sound magazine's latest cover star. Last year saw Yungblud release his debut album '21st Century Liability’ and play to crowds all over the world including festivals Reading & Leeds, Austin City Limits, Rock Am Ring and the final Vans Warped Tour.

Yungblud partly credits his razor-sharp lyricism to his lifelong love of literary-minded songwriters like Bruce Springsteen and Chris Difford from Squeeze. A multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, bass, piano, and drums, he first picked up a guitar at age two and began writing his own songs at age 10. At an early age, Yungblud moved to London to kick-start his career and refine his musical vision, a process aided by his rediscovery of firebrand artists like The Clash, Arctic Monkeys, and N.W.A.
