VA - Inside Job
What began as an impromptu studio session during Esotera's visit to the Delenz & Zeitstill creative space turned into something worth releasing: Inside Job, a four-track release on Turbolenz Records. It moves from introspective atmospheres to peak-time intensity, through shades of melodic techno, indie dance and ambient layers, and keeps a distinct, forward-leaning identity throughout.
It opens with Esotera feat. Delenz & Zeitstill – "Making a Hit". This track grew out of a production workshop for Esotera and turned out too good to leave on the hard drive. Whether it really is a hit, we'll leave up to you. We definitely had a lot of fun making it.
After releases on Cocoon, Live at Robert Johnson and Klinika, Delenz and Zeitstill return with music of their own. It's straight from the vault and about three years old, but it hasn't aged a day.
Delenz – "Dann kam der Mai" picks up the playful spirit of classic Kompakt. The track takes its time and builds patiently until a pushing bassline finally rolls in and releases the tension, made for pure ecstatic moments on the dancefloor. It's dreamy and deep without ever tipping into kitsch.
Zeitstill – "House Music" arrives with a sound entirely his own: noisy, shifted and brutal. None of us can quite say what it is, but it's good and it pushes forward.
To round things off, day-one artist Levantine returns to Turbolenz. Our Mexican super talent has an album coming next year, and we took the liberty of sharing an early taste. "Hadouken" carries the charm of vintage Harthouse records. It drives forward in a kind of cool trance and stays remarkably cool doing it.
