Greg Paulus - musclecars & Maher Daniel Remixes
Seth Troxler’s Slacker 85 and Greg Paulus revisit his 2025 album Close To Home for a set of remixes from some of the label’s favourite contemporary producers.
Fellow New Yorkers musclecars are first up, stripping the Dillon Cooper-featuring cut Bond down to its raw materials, rebuilding it from the ground up with a laid back jazz/funk instrumental that steers the track into Blackalicious and Digable Planets territory, and Cooper’s laconic rhymes anchored by a soulful backing vocal from Berlin-based soul vocalist Monica Mussungo.
Maher Daniel returns to Slacker following his contribution to the label’s behemoth He Ain’t Here compilation in July. The Palestinian-American DJ demonstrates why he’s no stranger to the record bags of Villalobos, Raresh and Traumer, as he takes the skittering off kilter rhythms of Hold Dear and applies a discretely urgent drum pattern that propels a swirling, sinister sub-bass under hypnotic snatches of vocal.
Greg Paulus - musclecars & Maher Daniel Remixes is released on the 18th of September via Slacker 85.
