Gizmo Varillas - El Dorado

Presenting El Dorado, the striking debut album from Gizmo Varillas. It’s a beautifully crafted album, evocative of his Spanish heritage and recorded in his adopted home of London, which takes its listeners on a timeless and optimistic journey. The multi-talented musician plays all the instruments on his album, from nylon/electric guitar, charango, bass, flutes, ukulele, and various shakers from around the world.

Gizmo’s Latin heritage radiates from El Dorado like the sunshine, with tracks such ‘El Caminar’ sung in his native tongue. It’s a song inspiring people to persevere and keep pushing forward with what they believe in. Being born in Santander, growing up in Bilbao, and immersing himself in the local music scene, his first taste of guitar was flamenco, rumba rhythms and the classical fingerpicking style, which echoes through El Dorado.

Having already gained support from BBC 6 Music and playing high profile gigs supporting the likes Jack Savoretti and Gavin James, 2017 promises to be the year for Gizmo Varillas with many more dates to be announced shortly.
