JIM - My Dreams Are Strange

'My Dreams Are Strange' is the third single from 'The Curious Case of Existence', JIM's sophomore LP out on 18th September via Vicious Charm Recordings.

With the first two releases 'Love Over Gold' and 'Keeps Me Warm' being more reflective, 'My Dreams Are Strange' moves a little more towards the dance floor: a slower, slightly wonkier dance floor, but a dance floor nonetheless. This is a track full of minimal funk and groove, with a ridiculously catchy chorus that was inspired by JIM's very involved dream state… “runs a marathon a night," according to his partner.

Speaking about the track, JIM explains the thinking behind its unconventional structure: "The other thing I love about that particular track is a really involved fade out. So just as the track is fading out, there's more and more going on. When I listen to records, I always used to think, 'Fuck, what is going on beyond that fade out? Why did they fade out there?' So this is my attempt at that — I'm hoping the listener goes, 'Oh god, what happens beyond that point?'"
