Glenn Molloy - Pyrokinesis (incl. Michael A and Sergio Vilas Remixes) - Friday Island Music

Next up on Friday Island is a fresh double-header from Irish progressive and melodic house producer Glenn Molloy, who has been on a tear lately with releases on labels such as Hexagonal Music, ARRVL, PolyAmber, Hooj Choons, Stripped Digital, Prognosis, Pangea Recordings and loads more.

First on the EP is ‘Pyrokinesis’, a twisted slice of dark prog madness with a moody, sizzling bassline and menacing discordant notes that bounce like firecrackers off the walls—all inspired by a night out listening to Sasha and Digweed in Dublin (and written while still feeling the effects from the night before).

The second track on the EP ‘Til I Found You’ takes us in another direction and into an entirely different post code to prog, serving up a deep summer vibe that blends catchy vocal house (sans fromage) and a rhythmic bass hook that evokes memories of the old Space Ibiza terrace.

Making his Friday Island remix debut is Belarusian prog firestarter Michael A, who delivers a driving, heads-down interpretation of Pyrokinesis, taking Glenn’s original, dumping 50 gallons of petrol on it and duly striking a match (the drop is pure burning jet fuel).

Finally, long-time Carl Cox favourite Sergio Vilas provides a proggier take on ‘Til I Found You’ with groovy shuffling drums, rolling bass, subtle vocals and a melodic, main room synth stab that rounds off the package nicely.

Friday Island is a new progressive house label inspired by the magic of the early 2000s but with an eye firmly on pushing the future of the sound. Friday Island’s mission is to make music for dark sweaty rooms and those cosmic 3am dancefloor moments when you forget where you are.
