Wraz. and CØNTRA – Rude Sound Culture [Bassrush Records]

Wraz. and CØNTRA release their new two-tracker 'Rude Sound Culture' via Bassrush Records.

Montreal's Wraz. has been unleashing his wrath within the bass music realm, known for exploring the darker, heavier recesses of dubstep, half-time, grime, drum & bass, and experimental, analog-led rhythms. Currently based in Portland, CØNTRA is a bass music producer tapping into his connection to nature—raised in King Mountain, California, and a decade-long resident in Denver. His sound fuses world bass influences with organic textures, live instrumentation (a guitarist and violinist), his own vocals, and deep dubstep. They debut on Bassrush Records with their new two-tracker 'Rude Sound Culture,' nodding to their shared love for reggae and soundsystem tradition.

The title track "Rude Sound Culture" is a deep dubstep track sparked up by a categorically heady vibe. Skanky guitar strums and staccato chords set the tone, a potent intro punctuated by bright steel drum hits, hazy atmospherics and tough-attitude vocal samples. The smoke dissipates to reveal its menacing low-end groove, which trudges into quick-attacking womp pulses, crisp percussion, eerie metallic tones, and atonal, pitch-shifting synthlines coloring the midpoint with brainwave-warping psychedelia.
