Northside - Take 5 (The Reflex Revision) / Shall We Take A Trip? (Leo Zero Remix)
Northside played a huge part in Manchester’s early nineties soundtrack. Signed to Factory, the band were said to be the bridge between the Stone Roses and the Happy Mondays, and made their mark in the blooming ‘baggy’ scene. The band’s 1991 second single, ‘Take 5’ reached the top five in the Billboard alternative songs chart and it also saw them appear on Top of the Pops that June. Seasoned pop-remixer The Reflex lifts the almost grunge-like original and spins it on its head, layering that classic bassline and catchy vocal with funky upbeat drums, whilst Leo Zero spins 'Shall We Take A Trip?' to student indie-dance heaven, where it's always 50p a pint.
A 12" white label of Northside - Take 5 (The Reflex Revision) / Shall We Take A Trip? (Leo Zero Remix) will be available in record shops on the 3rd of September and the Reflex Revison will also be available digitally, followed by the Leo Zero Remix digitally on the 1st of October.
London Records reissue the 1991 Factory Records debut album 'Chicken Rhythms' on LP & CD on the 14th of November. Fully remastered and cut from the original studio masters with restored artwork by Central Station Design.
