Soul Clap - Something In My Heart - Tedd Patterson Remixes
Just in time for Valentine's Day, New York City house music legend Tedd Patterson is here with a remix of Soul Clap's ‘Something In My Heart’ - a cover of the overlooked classic by 1980’s West Coast R&B star Michel’le - led by vocalist Ebony Houston.
Tedd's remix is classic New York City house and it adds layers of sweeping arpeggios, classic house pianos, and its swing and feel perhaps is an ode to Frankie Knuckles' Directors Cut remix style.
We are honored to have Tedd Patterson remix "Something In My Heart" with more music from him soon on the label with his remix of The Illustrious Blacks "Wake Up" coming this spring.
“Tedd Patterson is one of my personal heroes. His artistry and passion for music laid the foundation for how I present music to this day.” — DJ Honey Dijon
On 'Something In My Heart' Ebony flexes her soulful and melodic vocal prowess across this rework of the Michel'le romance anthem which transforms the original tune from "R&B slow jam" to "soulful ballad house". Eli and Charlie bring passion to the dancefloor with lush and sweeping synth pads that recall late 80s keyboard classics. Those moist layers of amorous sounds are percolated by marimbas and a percussive rhythm that is a trademark Soul Clap beat, only made more classic by Tedd Patterson's touch.
Ebony was discovered by Eli and Charlie during their first visit to Tallahassee, Florida to record with George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic. Her first appearance with Soul Clap was on their 2016 self-titled album where she masterfully led the original EFUNK styled mid-tempo R&B ballad, 'Numb'.
