Answering ICONYC's distinct call, Belgian sound alchemists RE-TYPE step up to the plate with their superb two-tracker EP, Dalliance. Designers of a prolific discography, Lucas and Pieter's arresting creations have garnered support from major players, including the likes of Tale Of Us and Camelphat, as they carve a unique trajectory, empowered by a sound that exists in its own timeline, lying far beyond the imagination of most modern creators.

As we hit play on our answering machines, RE-TYPE present us with the titular "Dalliance", where a coded message and a dense frame cut through the static with consummate ease. Shrouded in a cosmic haze, the production duo unleashes a tantalizing lead that traverses across a stabbed bassline and meandering synth swells that dance in the background, carelessly, unaffected by the track's own entropy. Harnessing tension with every passing beat, RE-TYPE devise a monumental breakdown, allowing for a decompressing release that takes "Dalliance" higher into the firmament for a rousing finale.

Dalliance's second gem comes in the shape of "Voicenote". Here, Lucas and Pieter craft a restless groove where lush synths rise into the sun at their own pace, generating a gorgeous sense of juxtaposition before a gracious vocal sample invites us inside for an unforgettable dance. As the beats pass us by, the warm synthetic lines come through in waves, colliding against thunderous drum arrangements, generating a fantastic maelstrom of love forged by the memories of better days to come.
