Phonetic Recordings presents Rob Roar “Freddie’s Revenge”, a track created specifically for one of Ibiza’s most legendary rooms: Freddie’s at Pikes. Anyone familiar with Rob’s productions, from his Max Linen days through to 'Rockerfella', 'Where Did You First Hear Acid?' and 'Wild Life', will know his records tend to pull influences from all corners of electronic music.

His previous production, “Where Did You First Hear Acid?”, prompted a personal email from Phil Hartnoll of Orbital: “5* Loving your work Rob.” Last month, Rob dropped it during his set for Claptone at Chinois Ibiza. Sister Bliss, playing immediately afterwards: “What’s this? I need a copy. Love it.”

When Rob was booked as the Secret Guest DJ at Freddie’s at Pikes Ibiza, he knew from experience how special that room was. It needed a production made specifically for it. Straight into the studio, “Freddie’s Revenge” began taking shape, drawing on the energy of Rob playing the We Love… Sundays at Space on the Sunset Terraza Arena, alongside the grooved side of his productions.

With the track nearly finished, Rob road-tested it during his first Secret Guest set at Pikes, as well as Andy Manumission Presents at 528, [UNVRS] and Claptone at Chinois.

A few more tweaks followed before the final version went back to where it was designed for: Freddy’s, for Rob’s second Secret Guest appearance. The reaction said everything. At the end of the night, clubbers were up at the booth wanting to know what the track was.

Adding another special moment to the summer, Rob was inducted into the Ibiza Hall of Fame, recognising his long-standing contribution to the island’s music culture and his place within Ibiza’s electronic music history.
