David Tort Unveils MoTL Records: The Deeper Side of Sound*
A decade ago, in the heart of Los Angeles, a city that forever shaped his journey, David Tort launched HoTL Records, a label that became synonymous with cutting-edge electronic music. Now, driven by a new artistic vision, Tort is proud to introduce its counterpart: MoTL Records.
Inspired by the B-sides of classic vinyl records, where producers often revealed a more intimate, experimental side of their artistry, MoTL Records represents Tort’s deeper, more personal creative identity. While it still carries the unmistakable essence of David Tort, this new label ventures into uncharted territory, exploring darker, more emotive, and introspective sounds.
But MoTL Records isn’t just about Tort’s evolution. It’s a platform for emerging artists who haven’t yet found a home for their unique voices. “This is my home, their home,” says Tort. “It’s a space for experimentation, connection, and raw expression.”
Welcome to MoTL Records, where the music goes deeper, the vibes are intimate, and the future of sound is limitless.
"I’ve always been a “Natural Born DJ”. From the moment I stepped into a club at 14, I knew my purpose: to create memories and bring happiness through music. Even as a kid, I heard sounds in my head, sounds I’d never heard before. They were different, hypnotic, danceable… and they felt right.
In 1991, I walked into a studio for the first time, and I never looked back. Over 200 singles later, the time has come to tell my story. “The Longest Winter” is my first album, a sonic journey through the shadows I’ve worked in to serve the light.
In 2020, I locked myself in my sonic laboratory for 18 months and poured my soul into this project. It’s a reflection of me: the artist, the dreamer, the DJ. After 30+ years of creating the soundtrack to your lives, it’s time to create my own.
This is "The Longest Winter". This is my story. Let’s dance through it together."
