Alex Whitcombe & Simon Duffy - Cato's Dream - Steel Fish Records

After a longer than planned break Alex Whitcombe & Simon Duffy revive their partnership and return to Steel Fish Records providing a seasonal slice of “Progressive Heaven”.

Collectively, Alex & Simon have been in the business of making music for some time now.

Alex, who set up Steel Fish is known for everything that is and was Qattara, including an official UK Club Chart Number 1 and remixes for the likes of Paganini Traxx, Paul Van Dyk and Donna Summer’s iconic “I Feel Love”, which was recently featured in Marvel’s Hit TV show, TITANS.

Simon, who has been involved with many worldwide top ten acts over the years including Planet Funk and Deep Dish. He's worked with Massive Attack, remixed New Order, mixed for Leftfield and has recently co-produced with Chris Martin from Coldplay.

From start to finish on this wonderful new track, you are instantly pulled in by the energy it gives out, with its subtle builds and distinctive production, “Cato’s Dream” is a glorious piece of electronic music and brilliant in every way. An amalgamation of tough grooves and basses all gelling into one, leading into a beautiful break - and oh my, what comes next should definitely raise the roof on a dancefloor or two.

Having recently joined forces with Mn2S for distribution and label services, it’s great to have Steel Fish back and 2025 will surely see the label go from strength to strength – providing quality music and good vibes all round! More from Steel Fish Records coming soon.

Steel Fish Records was initially set up by Alex Whitcombe in 1996 and was the home of Qattara and Qattara productions before signing a label deal with EMI’s dance imprint Positiva, which manifested into an Official Number 1 Club Chart with Qattara’s “Come With Me”, the vocal mix of the original Qattara single which featured a Paul Van Dyk remix that was originally released as a Steel Fish vinyl picture disc.

Numerous singles came after this with fantastic radio and club support including two instrumental mixes of The Truth by Qattara, Ice Rain by Alex Whitcombe & Big C, which actually went to Skinny Malinky Records before being signed on to Xtravaganza. Other key releases and mixes included tracks from the likes of Graemel, Sungod and Orkidea to name a few.

The label had an unplanned break when Alex went to worked Mercury Records (part of Universal Music Group) with sporadic releases and mixes being made. Now with a new distribution deal and joining forces with Mn2S, Steel Fish is well and truly back with Cato’s Dream by Alex Whitcombe & Simon Duffy as the first new release, with more in the pipeline moving forward into 2025.
