DJ S.K.T - Certi (Move Your Body) [feat. Youngman]
DJ S.K.T makes his much-anticipated return, with his debut single on 3Beat ‘Certi (Move Your Body)’. The record is a fresh re-work of Marshall Jefferson's seminal 1987 House classic ‘Move Your Body’, featuring the vocal talents of Youngman.
DJ S.K.T first rose to prominence with his crossover House anthem ‘Take Me Away’, which was an Official UK Top 20 single in 2015, and was recently awarded Silver status for 200,000 sales.
At the start of 2017, DJ S.K.T's health took a serious turn for the worse when he caught Pneumonia, brought on by a heavy tour schedule and hectic work load. He ended up on life support and in a coma for a month with only a 40% chance of survival.
To put the episode behind him, DJ S.K.T decided to take an overdue break from touring in 2019.
“The gigs and festivals were always amazing fun, but because touring was so full on, I never had any time to work on new music, sounds, or ideas. I wanted to take a break from everything just to be able to focus on my music, and production. I'm now back to my old self again, feeling healthy, positive, and excited for the future. I hope my story of recovery and revival, can help inspire others.”
2019 has already seen some key DJ S.K.T singles, such as on ‘Raindrops’ on Toolroom, and ‘Ballers’ on his own label Stashed. Both were added to Spotify's New Music Friday playlists, with tastemaker support across Radio 1 and Kiss.
S.K.T's dedication to focusing on music in 2019, has resulted in him signing the biggest deal of his career to leading UK Label 3Beat/Universal.
Already established as a 'go-to' producer and remixer, with his Saturday night Kiss Fresh shows consistently growing, and his record label 'Stashed' going from strength to strength. DJ S.K.T is now fully back, and 2020 will see him bigger and better than ever.
The vocals on ‘Certi (Move Your Body)’ are provided by the uniquely talented Youngman: singer, songwriter, MC, vocal engineer, and entertainer.
From an early age, Youngman was built a diverse palette of musical influences. Heavily influenced by his dad, ‘Bassline Smith’, part of the pioneering D&B outfit Drumsound & Bassline Smith, it's unsurprising Youngman started his sonic journey in the world of bass and beats.
High-profile recognition for his talents came in 2010 when he signed to Shy FX's Digital Soundboy label. His 2011 single ‘Who Knows?’ produced by Skream, was signed by Polydor, and playlisted at Radio 1, 1Xtra and Kiss FM. Whilst championed by radio tastemakers Annie Mac, MistaJam, and Zane Lowe.
Youngman is the vocalist for Drum & Bass hero Wilkinson’s live show appearing at top festivals across the globe. In recent years, he also has worked closely with a range of top artists from Roni Size, MJ Cole, Benga, and Jakwob, and NVOY.
2019 has also seen Youngman co-write some big tracks such as ‘Not Today’ by Dappy & Tory Lanez, alongside ‘Lay You Down’ by Zion. And, a vocal production credit on UK Top 40 hit ‘Motorola’ with Da Beatfreakz, Dappy, Deano and Swarmz.
