Burr Oak - Badlands
The scorching summer sun shone long across the rolling hills of the BADLANDS, withering the grasses and heating the black stones that jutted from the landscape. Beneath its harsh glare, two horsemen rode on, heads tucked beneath the wide circular brims of their twined straw hats.
“Could damn near fry an egg on one of them rocks,” grumbled one of the two wizened riders. Following this remark, a pause hung in the air for some time before his compatriot put words to the obvious reply.
“Hyup Scruggs, shame we ain’t had any eggs to fry for weeks now”.
Since their discovery of the BURR OAK, Scruggs & Sonny Jim had set off from the heart of the wilderness and begun to venture further into the unknown. The ancient oak was dying, infested by an evil that sapped its energies and prevented them from flowing rightly out into the land. This same corruption had seeped into this once verdant plain, sundering its foundations and making inhospitable what could otherwise have been a place of inimitable beauty. The riven land before them was evidence of the destruction to come should the two fail the quest bequeathed upon them by the great being UNO, to purge the source of this corruption, which festered further still within the lands they still had yet to cross. Only in doing so could the BURR OAK be healed. Only in doing so could the wilderness be protected. Only in doing so could UNO’s prophecy come to pass.
“Sure hope my skillet’s still hot when we get home”, Scruggs muttered wistfully & in jest. Beside him, Sonny Jim chuckled gruffly in response, and together the two outlaws rode further into the uncharted realm that lay sprawling before them.
BURR OAK cross the BADLANDS with their latest sampler, offering the EATBRAIN horde a taste of their sonic journeys to come as the duo unveils the first pieces of their forthcoming album and continues the epic saga of 2024’s SOMEWHERE WE BELONG.
