Oslo duo Mentum land on Westend’s Trace Amounts imprint with their new single ‘Persona’. Mentum have been producing together for around a decade, with releases on Spinnin’ Records and their own LOCO MOTIV recs, and they teamed up with BYOR on ‘I Can Dance’ for Experts Only.

A confident, boastful vocal sits on top of rolling percussion and a heavy, sub-weighted low-end. ‘Persona’ is still a club-focused record, and the topline never pulls it away from the floor. The kick and bass drop out completely for the breakdowns, which leaves the mid-range and the vocal to carry the tension before the groove comes back in. The top end tightens through each drop, so the record keeps building without crowding the low-end.
