Dennis Lloyd - Nevermind

Already up to over 26 million streams and growing rapidly, we bring you Dennis Lloyd's 'Nevermind' along with a very smooth remix from German producer Wankelmut.

Every song Dennis Lloyd writes is based on an authentic experience or emotion. The songwriter, producer, trumpet player and singer is interested in a true reflection of himself in the instrumentals and the lyrics, and it’s that sentiment that has immediately connected with fans around the world. His music is undeniable, perhaps because Dennis has always known that he had to create.

Dennis Lloyd was born Nir Tibor in Tel Aviv, Israel. His first instrument was the recorder and by age 8 he was learning to play the trumpet, drawn in by its deep, powerful sound. By 13, he taught himself to play guitar and began writing his own songs and when he was 15, Dennis bought his first microphone at a Sam Ash in Las Vegas while traveling with his family to record and produce his music. It wasn’t all easy, though. Dennis attended an arts high school to study jazz and his fellow classmates didn’t understand his interest in other genres.

“I started to record songs and put them on YouTube and people laughed behind my back,” the musician says. “I made an a capella cover of Kesha when everyone else was listening to Miles Davis and people didn’t like it. They imitated me. People recommended that I didn’t sing at the school as a jazz major. So I sang and produced on my own time, but I didn’t have a lot of support. I just did it anyway. I had a lot of haters at school, which is a scar I still have.”

Everything changed when Dennis turned 18 and headed into the army. He spent three years in the Israeli Navy, taking a pause from songwriting. He wanted to disconnect from music for that span and see if he still felt compelled to create afterwards. By the end of the three years, there was no avoiding it: Dennis wanted to make music for the rest of his life. In fact, he knew he had to make music for the rest of his life. He released his first single, “Playa (Say That),” in mid-2015 and didn’t look back.

In late 2015, the musician got an offer to come to Thailand, so he gave up his life in Tel Aviv and moved to Bangkok. He was invited to play his first-ever show at the Wonderfruit Festival in Pattaya that December, but nerves and stress overwhelmed Dennis. He fell sick, stuck in his house with no money, no Wi-Fi and no one to take care of him. He’d never felt so alone. But instead of feeling sorry for himself, Dennis performed a successful set at the festival, earning the acclaim of the crowd, and vowed to sit down and write so he’d always have enough music to play a show. In 10 days, he had 12 new songs, and by the time he moved back to Tel Aviv in late 2016 he had over 35 tracks.

“The key for me was that I didn’t have Internet, so I couldn’t listen to new music,” Dennis says. “I couldn’t listen to what was going on in the world. So I had to create what I wanted to hear. I love so many styles, from deep house to rock to hip-hop, and I made a mix of those sounds. It was just what I wanted to hear.”

Dennis’s single “Nevermind,” a buoyant R&B-tinged number, dropped in November of 2016 and quickly began to build momentum for the artist. After some airplay on Israeli radio stations, by January the song had half a million streams on Spotify and emails from record labels around the world started to pour in. The track has since accumulated more then 8 million streams on Spotify and has entered the Viral Charts almost everywhere in the world, landing at No. 4 on the Global chart. To date, Dennis has released several singles and music videos, including a video for “Leftovers” that he directed and edited himself. The musician has been selling out bigger and bigger shows around Israel in the past year, playing to over 1,000 fans, and also recently played club shows in Berlin and Hamburg with fan enthusiasm that mirrored his concerts at home. His music has reached fans across the globe, with marketing campaigns underway in Italy and Germany. He has enough songs written to make three albums and plans to release his first in the coming months. Ultimately, for Dennis, the growing success just means he’s connecting with people.

“I’ve always done things despite my haters,” the musician says. “My music is 100 percent based on things I feel or experience. I put a lot of hints in my music so people can make connections between the songs. It’s very interactive with the fans. The messages are about things going on in my life that someone anywhere around the world can also relate to. In that way, I hope my music can help others. I just want to say everything to everyone.”
