RAWS – Blackhole [Discovery Project Records]

Philadelphia-based producer RAWS is an emerging artist focused on making gritty dubstep and experimental bass music rounded out by his signature retro-leaning sound design. He's debuting on Insomniac's Discovery Project label with his new single.

"Blackhole" is a dubstep track intended to swallow festival floors whole in its vortex. Deep and washed in heavy distortion, the track barrels through space with an intergalactic broadcast vocal narrating as the event horizon unfolds through guttural supersaw sub-bass, supersonic laser modulations, metallic percussive clanks, and eerie cosmic tones feeding into the gravitational bend. The track was the winning submission for the Discovery Project DJ / Producer competition's Clubs Edition, co-presented by Bassrush and hosted for The Basement at Vinyl. Guest judge Star Monster selected it, earning RAWs an opening set at the venue and this single on the label. RAW's music has gained recognition from tastemakers including Zeds Dead, Sully, Lumasi, Dr. Fresch, and more.
