Kraak & Smaak and PWNT - Nothing Is Forever
Following the balmy groove of their recent single Heat with Butter Bath, Dutch electronic mainstays Kraak & Smaak return with Nothing Is Forever— a hazy, glowing collaboration with PWNT, the alias of Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Kosta Galanopoulos.
Drifting in like the golden-hour opening of a sun-bleached indie movie, Nothing Is Forever melts together shimmering textures, warm synths and soft-focus vocals into a dreamlike, slow-motion swirl. It’s a natural evolution of the group’s trademark sound — analogue-rich, melodically grounded — but now steeped in the gentle nostalgia of west coast yacht rock, soft-psych ease and a modern soul leaning.
Lyrically reflective, Nothing Is Forever explores the fleeting nature of time and memory — a theme mirrored in its vintage-tinted glow and unhurried flow. It also offers an early glimpse of what’s to come on Kraak & Smaak’s forthcoming full-length, due later this year.
Kraak & Smaak first discovered PWNT through his 2023 track Clouds— a song that particularly resonated with Oscar de Jong and the wider K&S studio circle. “When I first heard Clouds, I was immediately drawn in by the warmth and songwriting,” de Jong shares. “Working together on Nothing Is Forever came really naturally — it felt like the start of something new, but familiar.”
Aside from his PWNT output — a project that blends psych-pop, laid-back soul and 70s-tinted grooves —Kosta Galanopoulos is also known for his alias RIO KOSTA, a collaborative project with Mike del Rio, where jazz, ambient and cinematic elements intertwine. A seasoned drummer, composer and producer, his work consistently channels warmth, musicality, and a distinctly west coast sensibility.
Nothing Is Forever will be released via BoogieAngst, Kraak & Smaak’s own imprint, on July 11, 2025.
