Michael Gray West End Records Reworks

- CLUB PLAY ONLY UNTIL 26TH JULY -

Here we bring you two seminal tracks from West End Records that have been given new energy by Michael Gray. With Mahogany’s ‘Ride On The Rhythm’, Michael has upped the tempo and added a heavier bass-laden groove which make it fresh and ready for contemporary dancefloors. Raw Silk’s classic ‘Just In Time’ has received a further trademark Michael Gray update, with the original stellar vocals accompanied by his fuller and funkier beats.

Founded by the late Mel Cheren in 1976, West End Records defined the early disco and dance sound of New York, ultimately dominating dancefloors all over the world. During Disco’s 70s peak, labels and artists scrambled to put out records that would ride the wave of disco's popularity but West End was not jumping on any bandwagon, West End created the bandwagon. Releasing hits like Taana Gardner ‘Heartbeat’, Loose Joints ‘Is It All Over My Face’, Barbara Mason ‘Another Man’, and The NYC Peech Boys ‘Don't Make Me Wait’, West End went on to become one of the most sampled record labels in music history.

The Reworks series sees renowned edit and remix producers applying their skills to disco and house classics from some of the great labels of New York dance music. The series will celebrate the records that shaped these genres and represent them with a fresh new take.
