Papa Lu - Red Hot
Bay Area born and raised DJ and producer Papa Lu is family to Soul Clap, and he recently made his move to Los Angeles where he is making his mark on the house music scene. Lu is steadily building his collection of acid tinged, funky house burners, while also exploring Latin house.
For his debut on Soul Clap Records, he teams up with vocalist ASTU on the thumping “Red Hot” a fast paced house track with interlocking funk elements built to rock the dance floor. Her red hot vocals adds a late 1970s underground disco vibe to the cut.
Our friend, producer and the multihypenate The Whooligan joins Papa Lu on the flip, titled “Starting To Rise”, which continues the disco house vibe. Once the beat drops, a strong Latin rhythm takes over with layers of syncopated percussion, adding a strong Cumbia house flavor to the diverse mix.
Lu's recent run of parties includes performances with Sven Väth, Walker & Royce, and Todd Terry. Papa Lu will be opening for Cassy at Audio SF on March 29th.
