CHVRCHES - Miracle
CHVRCHES today release ‘Miracle’, the latest song to be lifted from their eagerly anticipated upcoming album, Love Is Dead. “Ask me no questions, I will tell you no lies, careful what you wish for. We’re looking for angels in the darkest of skies… I’m not asking for a miracle,” CHVRCHES frontwoman Lauren Mayberry demands on ‘Miracle’, which was premiered by Annie Mac as her Hottest Record In The World. ‘Miracle’ is available to stream and download now, and - like lead single ‘Get Out’, as well as ‘My Enemy’ feat The National’s Matt Berninger and ‘Never Say Die’ - is available as an instant grat to those who have pre-ordered the new album. Love Is Dead is due for release via Virgin Records (UK) and Glassnote Records (US) on May 25th.
The song was produced by Steve Mac (Ed Sheeran / ‘Shape Of You’). On working with the mega-producer, the band says: “Miracle is the only song from Love Is Dead that we didn’t write and record in the States, instead producing it in London with Steve Mac. Steve is such an intuitive writer with such a killer ear for melody and working with him felt very easy and natural. He makes space for everyone in the room and really pushes people to try things and go outside of their comfort zone, in a good way.”
CHVRCHES are Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty. Love Is Dead is the band’s third album, following their top 10 debut The Bones of What You Believe (2013) and its top 5 critically acclaimed follow up Every Open Eye (2015). With the soaring success of their first two albums propelling CHVRCHES into new worlds of fame and acclaim, Love Is Dead is at times euphoric and others bittersweet. It is an album about growing up and “coming to terms with the fact that there are great things in the world and there are awful things in the world and that you can’t get one without the other,” says Mayberry.
For the first time in their career, Love Is Dead sees CHVRCHES welcome outside influences, with 2017 and 2018 GRAMMY Producer of the Year Greg Kurstin co-producing nine tracks, whilst BRIT Award Producer of the Year 2018 Steve Mac also produces ‘Miracle’.
