Greta Levska - Initialize

Hot on the heels of her last phenomenal single BASS, Ibiza’s Greta Levska brings you Initialize, the third single from her eagerly awaited debut album, IBZALIEN released 11th April on sublime and eclectic label Get Physical.

The most talked about new artist on the electro scene at the start of 2025, Greta Levska is already a firm favourite of Solomun, Damian Lazarus, and Gorgon City. Recent single Insanity was Number 1 in the Beatport Indie Dance chart. She enjoys huge support across BBC Radio 1, with Mixmag premieres and DJ Mag features to boot.

Greta Levska deconstructs your favourite electro sounds from the last forty years, lovingly rebuilding them into something original. The first single from IBZALIEN, Moulin Krew, was forged from 80’s old-skool hip-hop. Second single, BASS, had a real mid-90’s sound, reconstructed in Greta Levska’s own inimitable way.

Initialize takes you way back to the early eighties to the sounds of the groundbreaking Fairlight CMI, the synth / sampler that changed the face of music. Greats such as Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Stevie Wonder and DEVO loved this green-screened-synth-machine. None of them pushed it like Greta does here.

Starting with a thwack of an off-beat, slightly tribal pattern, Initialize scampers off the mat like a cartoon cat. It’s big, it’s bouncy and it sends dance floors crazy. All of those classic synth timbales, hi-hats, whistles, kettle bass drums that you know, and love get an outing. The breakdown is absolute genius. The whirring of a robot ‘powering off’ and three notes hang in the air, preparing the way for the vocal sample ‘They’re not gonna stop us now’...and back at it, full pelt. Initialize is fun and exactly what you need this April, as the days get longer, the dancefloor calls out to you and you begin to think about that Mediterranean festival or week in Ibiza.

Greta Levska explains: “I wanted to bring a track packed with Energy, bounce, funk & fun to the album, Initialize for me has all of that. Based around the early sound design’s & sequences that comes out of the CMI, I really enjoyed manipulating this one to be a dance floor heater.”

Why not book in that trip to Ibiza now and hear one of Greta Levska’s sublime DJ sets? 2024 saw incredible parties Pikes, Destino, Club Chinois and Amnesia. You won’t regret it. 2024 was huge for her. With IBZALIEN, 2025 will be massive.
