KNEECAP - Cold At The Top (Shanti Celeste Remix)
Belfast trio KNEECAP share a Shanti Celeste remix of ‘Cold At The Top’, a track taken from their recently released critically acclaimed new album, FENIAN, which was out in early May on Heavenly Recordings.
Chilean-born, London-based DJ and producer Shanti Celeste gets hold of Kneecap's chugging, pulsing original and takes it out on the town. An irrepressible 4/4 rhythm track, a floating riff that sounds like it's being beamed in from the Great Beyond and an out-of-this-world cut and paste of the band's original vocals, this is perfect late night house music for Britain's next heatwave.
Also included are three tracks from the Dan Carey produced album which hit the number one spot in Ireland and number two in the U.K.
'Cold At The Top'
With fame comes braggadocio. With celebrity comes hedonism. But with Kneecap, all of these things come with self-deprecation. Name dropping, Guinness-sinking, session-chasing, party-loving, all underpin this brilliant depiction of the self-aware ludicrousness of cocaine-fuelled narcissism, infamy and stardom.
'Big Bad Mo'
An acid house banger that flips mood and groove, this is a tune destined for stadium-sized raves, the sound of Glastonbury at 4am, and a sonic warping of LCD Soundsystem clattering down the the Falls Road.
'An Ra'
The RA here stands for an Ríocht Aontaithe (the United Kingdom). This is a blistering satire of British rule and the socio-cultural rot at the heart of colonialism.
Without doubt one of the highlights of Primavera earlier this month, KNEECAP head out to play several EU festivals and headline shows and a massive headline gig at London’s Crystal Palace Park over the summer.
KNEECAP - 'Cold At The Top' (Shanti Celeste Remix) is due for release on the 25th of June via Heavenly Recordings.
