Plastic Park meets Alexander Purkart - Next Step EP

Originally released on vinyl in 1999, ‘Next Step EP’ by Plastic Park Meets Alexander Purkart now resurfaces for the first time in digital format with a special Bandcamp re-issue. A standout snapshot of late-90s European house, the EP blends disco, deep house, and the early French touch that shaped the era.

The EP opens with ‘Work It Out’, a classic disco-house groover driven by a deep bassline and the unmistakable male vocal hook “the brothers gonna work it out”, layered with timeless disco. ‘Dope 30’ follows with a deeper, warmer vibe. A smooth fusion of house rhythms and subtle disco textures.

On ‘Nasty Boogie’, the trio delivers a late-90s style disco-house tool: simple, effective, and built for the dancefloor. Closing the EP, ‘The Things We Do’ leans into the French house spirit of the time, with filtered grooves and classic house sensibilities.

Plastic Park, the duo of Peter Rims and Abhinav Frank Georg Heist, were active contributors to the late-90s house landscape with releases on respected labels such as Force Inc. and Starlet. For this EP, they teamed up with Alexander Purkart, a producer who likewise released under various aliases on the same influential imprints.

A true time capsule from 1999, the ‘Next Step EP’ returns to bring its disco-soaked, deep-house charm to a new generation of listeners.

Definitive Recordings was founded by John Acquaviva, Richard Hawtin, and Karl Kowalski in 1992 as an embodiment of their vision for house music. "Not too hard, not too soft" was the mantra and it built up a fine body of talented artists who made a real impact on the global underground and helped to foment a unique identity for Definitive Recordings. After acquiring the catalogue of legendary Canadian house label, Get Physical Music is proud to present a new various artists series that focuses on some of its most classic cuts. John Acquaviva will continue to A&R for the label and work closely alongside the Get Physical team in this new era.
