Greta Levska - Las Perras EP

Ibiza’s electronic music prodigy Greta Levska brings you her sensational new Las Perras EP, available 9th May on Get Physical. Greta Levska hand picks the best sounds from the Historica Electronica, pulls apart their building blocks and makes something even better, for your delectation.

Titular track Las Perras is a prime example. Featuring Third Culture (Sasha Robotti and Sian’s new project), Las Perras (The Bitches) is nothing short of spectacular. Imagine if Miss Kittin was Spanish and the guest vocalist with Kraftwerk. Now listen to Las Perras. The track starts with a gorgeous 303- style kick pattern, joined with a robotic Ralf Hutter bass synth. By the time you hear the seductive Spanish vocals, heads turn around you, asking ‘Wow! What is this?’ and people scramble to find a track ID. Job done? No way. Greta has more to give. A higher-state-build-up increases the intensity, the drums evolve into a breakbeat, blissed out synth patterns fill the air and a deep Pontiac firebird bass revs its engines and drives back to Kraftwerk body shop for more robotic reconstruction.

The second track, Mr Funk has that awesome, stripped back sound reminiscent of turn-of-the millennium classics from the likes of The Hacker or Peaches. The filthiest distorted bass, thwacking claps that sound like a whip on a snare drum drag you by the leash onto the grimy dance floor. Greta’s euphoric, arpeggiated keyboards lift you to your feet, then lavish layers of synth put you in a trance as lazers cut through the machine fog around you. In the church of Mr Funk, there is only one mantra. “Keep Funky.”
