Karel, the enigmatic entertainer and close friend of Sylvester, pays tribute to one of the LGBTQAI+'s most influential dance artists. Enlisting the help of original Sylvester background singer, and mega-diva Jeanie Tracy, Karel puts his own spin on this Megatone classic.

“I had to record ‘Do You Wanna Funk?’ because it and I go way, way back,” Karel (Charles Karel Bouley) stated from his Las Vegas, NV studios. “It was 1982, I was 20 years old, at the DOK West in Garden Grove, CA. The DJ, Andy, played the song, and my friend and I always danced, all night, always. Everyone cleared the floor, except us. The DJ stopped the song and over the microphone chastised the patrons saying ‘This is the hottest song in LA and I’m going to keep playing it until you queens dance. Eventually, the floor was packed. We danced the entire time. In 1983 I got the bar to book Sylvester in to perform and I spent the weekend with him. I could write a book about that weekend. But I was forever changed. With the help of Leo Frappier of San Francisco's House of Frappier, Karel produces a modern disco production that both stays true to the original yet also adds his playful stamp both vocally and rhythmically. Producer Matt Moss gives this classic an exciting house production that slowly burns and builds into an explosive peak time anthem, while Brazil's Henriq Moraes takes the listener on a darker, sexier yet big room circuit journey.
