Jaegerossa & Danny Russell – Sloppy Funk
Sloppy Funk started as a half-finished groove Danny Russell sent over from Berlin, one of those late-night sketches with something in it but not quite there yet. Danny’s been embedded in the Berlin scene for years now, and that city edge runs through everything he does. With previous cuts alongside Dirty Channels, he’s no stranger to records that carry proper swing and musicality without losing dancefloor bite.
When the half track landed with Jaegerossa, it was obvious there was dirt under the nails. Instead of tidying it up, they leaned into it. Think loose funk, thick bass, off-kilter movement, a nod to that George Clinton kind of attitude, but reworked for a modern system.
It’s not polished. It’s not shiny.
It struts a bit. It stumbles a bit.
And that’s exactly the point. And that’s Sloppy Funk.
Built for heads-down moments, sweaty rooms and DJs who like their grooves with character.
Proper sloppy business.
