Nick Da Cruz - Phosphor (Passarani Remix)
Secret Weapon Records continues its journey through the label's archive with another revival from its early catalogue. Originally released in 2010, Nick Da Cruz's ‘Phosphor’ is a deep and minimal techno cut built around hypnotic percussion, subtle grooves and an understated sense of tension. Now the track returns with a fresh reinterpretation from Italian electronic music pioneer Marco Passarani.
Nick Da Cruz has been immersed in electronic music since the late 1980s, developing his craft first as a DJ before moving into production in the late 2000s. Following his debut release in 2009, his productions have found support from respected DJs across the global underground, reflecting his distinctive approach to House, Electro and Techno.
A revered DJ and producer, Marco Passarani has been a defining figure in Italian electronic music for more than three decades. Emerging from Rome's pioneering underground scene, he has built an exceptional career as a producer, DJ, label founder and mentor. Alongside releases on labels including Running Back, Offen Music and AUS Music, his work as one half of Tiger & Woods and his influential Finalfrontier company have cemented his reputation as one of electronic music's most versatile artists. His productions have even been remixed by both Ricardo Villalobos and Autechre, highlighting the breadth of his influence across the underground.
Passarani's remix shifts ‘Phosphor’ into a playful yet driving direction. A fierce, infectious bassline sits firmly at the centre of the track, while elements of the original's hypnotic percussion are woven into a darker, groove-led framework. Rich synth textures and understated melodies gradually unfold, creating a remix that feels both warm and futuristic while retaining the hypnotic spirit of the original.
With ‘Phosphor (Passarani Remix)’, Secret Weapon Records continues to reconnect its catalogue with today's dancefloors. Reignited by Greta Levska and the team behind Get Physical Music, the label remains committed to preserving timeless underground music while inviting a new generation of artists to reinterpret its legacy.
