Wolfgang Valbrun Remixes - Sophie Lloyd / Brian Kage / Sam Redmore

American singer-songwriter Wolfgang Valbrun dropped his incredible debut album Flawed By Design in 2024.

After moving from New York to France in his teens Wolfgang found favour on the Paris circuit before being recruited as lead singer for avant-garde UK soul and jazz band ephemerals. Alongside ephemerals he also performed and wrote for French hip hop and soul legend GUTS after a chance meeting when they played the same stage at Glastonbury.

Many people know ephemerals best from their 100m streaming monster hit “I Feel So Bad” with French producer Kungs – a rework of the bands original hit “You Made Us Change” and a reminder if needed that Wolf’s voice can rock a dancefloor as well as a venue or festival stage..

That being the case – Wolf commissioned three very different remixers to choose their favourites from the album.

First was Sophie Lloyd, part of the Defected / Glitterbox crew and a regular on Classic Records where her collaborations with Dames Brown gave her an international club hit. Sophie takes Sun Don’t shine, throws in a little sympathy style percussion then goes for the jugular with a massive piano riff that will be echoing round festivals all summer long.

Detroit hero Brian Kage takes the album title track on a deeper and darker excursion that is tailor made for dark club spaces.

To complete the deal labelmate Sam Redmore delivers a laidback but emotive remix of “Shadows”. Redmore is known for his poly-jamorous approach to genres ranging from disco to cumbia and jazz. Here he puts some serious swing into the track making it a warm up and afterhours DJ favourite.
