Tony Mafia - Minimal Gods (e-freq Remix)
Secret Weapon Records continues its long-awaited return with its second release since the relaunch, revisiting a true label classic. Originally released in 2010, Tony Mafia’s ‘Minimal Gods’ now receives a fierce reinterpretation from e-freq, the duo of Last Magpie and DJ Haus, transforming the original into a high-impact, rave-driven techno weapon built for modern dancefloors.
Tony Mafia, born on the coast of Colombia, is a prolific DJ, producer and label manager with a deep-rooted presence in the global underground scene. Over the years, he has helmed and contributed to a wide network of imprints including Techno Addicts, PLATTENLABEL, Undergroundz, Discokat Records, Techno Killer Records and many more. Known for his versatility, Tony Mafia has also explored multiple aliases, shaping a broad and dynamic artistic identity across genres.
Behind the remix, e-freq unites Last Magpie with London’s DJ Haus (Rupert Cogan), the driving force behind the influential Unknown To The Unknown label and its Hot Haus offshoot. As DJ Haus, Cogan has built a reputation for high-energy club music that draws from across the dance spectrum, from vintage Chicago house to UK bass and rave. With releases on labels such as Rinse, Defected, Clone and Crème Organization, alongside collaborations including Mystik Menn and Trumpet & Badman, his output consistently bridges underground credibility with peak-time functionality. Together as e-freq, the duo channels this heritage into a raw, forward-facing sound rooted in electro and rave traditions.
e-freq’s take on ‘Minimal Gods’ pushes the track into full-throttle territory. Driven by a fast tempo and pounding techno groove, the remix channels the spirit of 90s rave culture with sharp synth stabs, distorted textures and relentless rhythmic pressure. Rave-infused elements cut through the mix, creating a sense of urgency and chaos that feels both nostalgic and forward-facing. The result is a high-energy club tool designed for peak-time moments, where old-school attitude meets modern production power.
With this second release, Secret Weapon Records continues to honour its legacy while pushing its sound into new territory. Reignited by Greta Levska and the team behind Get Physical Music, the label’s return marks a renewed commitment to raw, hypnotic and uncompromising underground music.
