Simkid - Get On Down EP

Definitive Recordings welcomes back Simkid with his new two-track release ‘Get On Down EP’. Following his previous appearances on the label alongside The S.O.S. with ‘Certainly Close’ and ‘We Oui’, Simkid now steps forward solo, delivering a fresh take on groove-driven house music that bridges past and present.

London-based Simkid is a French DJ and producer known for blending house, deep house, soulful textures, and tech-driven grooves with a strong analog feel. His music has appeared on labels such as Get Physical, Peppermint Jam, KMS Records, Moodfunk, and Definitive Recordings, earning support from artists including Claptone, Jamie Jones, Chris Stussy, Seth Troxler, and Sam Divine.

The title track ‘Get On Down’ is a disco-infused house cut built around a warm, rolling bass guitar line that anchors the groove. A catchy male vocal repeating ‘Get on down, get down’ drives the energy, while layered disco strings and evolving synth lines give the track both a modern edge and a clear nod to classic disco and French house influences.

On ‘Lose My Cool’, Simkid takes a more playful and exploratory approach. Built on a straight house beat, the track features a female vocal hook ‘Make me lose my cool’, surrounded by lo-fi textures, evolving drum patterns, and shifting hi-hat arrangements. Two playful synth lines develop over time, creating a dynamic, ever-changing groove that keeps the listener engaged throughout.

With ‘Get On Down EP’, Simkid delivers a refined and versatile house release, combining timeless influences with a forward-thinking production style.

Definitive Recordings was founded by John Acquaviva, Richard Hawtin, and Karl Kowalski in 1992 as an embodiment of their vision for house music. "Not too hard, not too soft" was the mantra and it built up a fine body of talented artists who made a real impact on the global underground and helped to foment a unique identity for Definitive Recordings. After acquiring the catalogue of legendary Canadian house label, Get Physical Music is proud to present a new various artists series that focuses on some of its most classic cuts. John Acquaviva will continue to A&R for the label and work closely alongside the Get Physical team in this new era.
