The Illustrious Blacks - VELOCITY EP with Remixes + More

Globally acclaimed electronic dance music artists and style icons The Illustrious Blacks, are set to release their brand new EP, Velocity, on Soul Clap Records.

Known for their electrifying, high energy live shows and DJ sets, the Afrofuturistic duo consisting of Monstah Black and Manchildblack, have once again teamed up with talented producer Taylor Bense to create a four track banger that effortlessly fuses Electro, Disco, House, Afrobeat, Soul and even Jazz.

“Turbulence”, kicks off Velocity with a ballroom inspired House track, and features Manchildblack acting as a space pilot guiding the listener on an intergalactic flight from planet NYC to Cloud N.I.N.E.

The lead single, “Suck My Disco” combines electro and disco, with thought provoking lyrics that speak to the subject of race relations in our society. Detroit legend DJ Minx, also delivers a remix that is sure to create dance floor pandemonium.

“Outlaw”, with its lyrical affirmations and trumpet solo by Greg Paulus, recalls the sound of Afrobeat king Fela Kuti, but with an illustrious twist.

The EP is rounded out by the dreamy “Next to Me”, featuring soulful lead vocals by Monstah, and a smooth soundscape reminiscent of the late great Roy Ayers. Soul Clap released two remixes of the track that moved it into deep house territory.

The new EP comes as The Illustrious Blacks re-launch their Suck My Disco NY Residency at C'Mon Everybody in Brooklyn and continue extensive touring around the world.
