TJ Hookers - Atmos Fear EP (incl. Silvertooth Remixes) - Silvertooth Music

Very limited mailout - early support from Erol Alkan, Richie Hawtin, Bushwacka, Nicolas Masseyeff, Gabriel Ananda,, Alex Neri, Nick Warren, Maceo Plex, Nic Fanciulli, Spencer Brown

The TJ Hookers are two mysterious intergalactic outlaws who have been plundering their way through the galaxy robbing all beings of their valuables using their balsamic-ray-guns (yes I said it - sic)...SCANDALOUS! Captain Silvertooth of the Starship No-Surprise has been tailing them for months, and after a laser-heavy standoff has apprehended those space-cowboys and taken them into custody. Currently incarcerated at a secret location, only the lord knows how they managed to make these records?

Atmos Fear is the lead track - a pulsing Moroder’esque slow grinding cosmic chugger with a bubbling 303 and an Italo-style piano riff, the vocal hook encouraging you to “Keep Moving On”. Silvertooth on remix duties for both tracks here, ups the BPMs taking it into peaktime ‘tribal-prog-techno’ territory with power chords and a machine funk vocoder, dropping the lead piano after the break - think of early Underworld.

Sound Man is a stripped down, mid tempo deep house affair - a stabby looped bassline & guitar licked rolling hypnotic groove with lazer shots, and rastafari vocal chant “Bad Man Sound”. Silvertooth ups the BPM again and rolls out a full-on stomper with a hint of the 90s Dutch house sound.
