Alice Merton - Learn To Live

When the major industry claims your songs have no potential, there are exactly two ways things can go. You can bury your head and feel sorry for yourself or you can take a leap of faith and kick things off yourself.

Alice Merton went for the latter and started her own label on which she published a song that became a worldwide hit.

As of now, she has sold more than one million records, crossed the 300 million streaming mark, entered the Top 10 charts in ten different countries, given interviews all over the world, performed at Jimmy Fallon’s Late-Night-Show, went 7x Platinum in Europe & Gold in the US, and won an ECHO and an EBBA.

All of this with her very first single – “No Roots”.

So, what do you do when your first song becomes such an international success story? Sure, you`re going to produce more songs and release an album. Easier said than done at a time your whole world has been turned upside down. However, Alice managed to do just that by staying calm and taking the time she needed to record an album that not only includes the already released tracks, “No Roots”,”Lash Out” and “Why So Serious” but seven new songs.

In MINT Alice opens up about all the different experiences she has had in her life. “Learn To Live “is not only the album’s opener or the next single but a powerful message to herself to herself on how to deal with the many challenges of life. “I want to learn how to live without the consequences”, she urges herself while a rocky guitar riff meets a forceful bass and whipping drums. The song is about all the fears sneaking up on her during the last years. “I often felt like I wasn‘t really living and I was held back by all these fears in my head that told me how I should act, how I should behave.” With Learn To Live, Alice wants to break free and focus on living and loving life.
