Basti Grub Feat. Sofiya Nzau - Sondans

Sofiya Nzau is an African storyteller from Murang'a, Kenya.
Her passion for music started at a young age when she sang in her local church and developed into a popular singer, songwriter for many house DJs and producers around the world. Her most recent work includes MWAKI, a collaboration with Brazilian DJ & producer Zerb, which first received huge support from DJs and playlists around the world and has since been hailed as the Afro House hit 2024 with over 50 million streams.

Sofiya has a unique sound that gets you hooked from the first listen. Her artistry goes far beyond her music; it embodies the soul of Africa. With her calm yet commanding voice, she expresses the essence of the continent in every note she sings.

Her ability as a storyteller connects complex narratives that resonate deeply with her listeners, transcending language barriers and cultural boundaries. Her music speaks of the joy, suffering and resilience of African communities, carrying the spirit of past generations and the promise of a better future.

After listening to it for the first time, German DJ & producer Basti Grub, who has since discovered Bali as his new adopted home, was also enchanted. He immediately contacted Sofiya for a session and SONDANS was born.

With its recurring Pluck Main theme, paired with Sofiya's storytelling tembre in her voice, you almost fall into a trance while listening to it and from then on you embark on an intimate journey with both of them that will never let you go.

Basti Grub was already part of the techno scene in Frankfurt and Kassel at the age of 15, turning night into day in well-known clubs such as Omen and Stammheim.
Since then, he has successfully established himself in the scene and released music on renowned labels such as Diynamic, Cocoon, Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical, Desolat, Defected and CR2 Records. He plays on the most famous stages around the world.
