Freestyle Man - Vorbeiflug

Freestyle Man returns with Vorbeiflug, a deeply personal new album exploring the spaces between IDM, experimental electronics, electro and ambient music.

Across 11 tracks, Vorbeiflug moves through fractured rhythms, warm analogue textures, abstract melodies and slowly evolving atmospheres. Rather than following a fixed genre framework, the album unfolds like a series of passing scenes - sometimes intimate and fragile, sometimes mechanical and restless, but always emotionally charged.

The album was introduced by two advance singles that already hinted at its wider sonic world. Spazzo set the tone with a slow-burning electro-acid groove, paired with an atmospheric ambient interpretation that exposed the more spacious side of the project. The second single, PRO8E, pushed further into detailed electronic territory, combining a tighter version of the album track with the
darker, more stripped-back flipside Dominant Dorm.

Together, the two singles offered an early glimpse into the contrasts that define Vorbeiflug: rhythm and suspension, warmth and abstraction, club-rooted electronics and more introspective listening music.

Rooted in electronic music history while looking firmly forward, the record draws subtle connections between classic electro, IDM experimentation, Berlin-school electronics and the colder, spacious atmosphere of Scandinavian electronic music.

There is a strong sense of reflection running throughout the album: memories appearing and disappearing, machines breathing alongside melody, moments of tension giving way to stillness. The result is an album built less around individual tracks than around a continuous mood and journey.

Vorbeiflug marks another chapter in Freestyle Man's long-running exploration of electronic music
beyond the dancefloor - deep, detailed and uncompromisingly personal.

Freestyle Man has been a staple in house circles since the mid 90s with his releases and remixes on labels like PUU/Sähkö, Studio Barnhus, Moodmusic and Mule Musiq. After discovering a massive amount of DAT tapes in his basement in late 2020, he went on a journey to transfer his early recordings from 1992 until 1997.

While finding classic releases on the tapes, there was a myriad of forgotten, unreleased material from his early days, which after 30+ years, still sounds fresh as ever.

This is why Freestyle Man Records was born. The aim is not to re-release, but to release unheard music from the vaults of this prolific producer‘s long-standing career.
