Double Dipp - Panic Attack - Taul Boy Records
Double Dipp Artist Bio
Double Dipp is a Chicago-based DJ, producer, and promoter, with a sonic identity rooted in the city’s rich history. Double Dipp’s sound is focused on minimal house, but its arms extend into deep house, progressive, garage, and breakbeat. Inspired by artists like Doubtingthomas, Etzu Mahkayah, and Swoy, he has also released on Chicago mainstay, Aathee, and upcoming releases on labels Tide and Snack Time.
Having performed alongside Harrison BDP, Shaun Reeves, and Julie Marghilano, he aims to bring a well-rounded and genre-defying experience to dance floors through his DJ sets, Big Brain event series, and music productions.
Panic Attack is Double Dipp’s second EP with Taul Boy Records, including two perfectly balanced tracks: Panic Attack and Willy Wonka.
Panic Attack is Double Dipp’s exploration of more classically progressive trance tracks. Its acid synths and pads leave the listener in a state of disorientation, very reminiscent of early 2000s trance tracks. The irregular but intriguing percussion pattern gives the impression of an irregular heartbeat, something you would experience during a panic attack.
Willy Wonka was made to be the perfect accompaniment to Panic Attack. “To me, they are a perfect pair”, says Double Dipp, “the sound design falls cleanly in the same ballpark, but the drums and overall tone of the two let them live distinctly on their own.” Willy Wonka’s stripped-down essence introduces the listener to a new world, with its hazy atmosphere interrupted by acid loops, combining elements of progressive trance and minimal.
Panic Attack was an experiment into the peak type driving progressive trance we all know and love, while Willy’s Wonka serves as the logical stepping stone between Double Dipp’s usual minimal productions and the synth bliss and high energy found on Panic Attack.
