Devault – What I Came For [Insomniac Records]
Devault returns to Insomniac Records with his new two-track release, ‘What I Came For,’ a pair of pulse-pounding cuts that showcase his range within contemporary house music.
Raised in Orange County, Devault is a critically acclaimed electronic music producer whose concept-driven songwriting and cinematic soundscapes have yielded a decade-spanning catalog of dance music. Balancing dancefloor functionality with hook-fueled catharsis, the genre-defying artist's latest evolution reflects a full immersion into modern club culture.
The title track, "What I Came For," is a vocal-tinged house offering built around the musings of edgy, experimental club-pop phenom Shygirl. Sampled from her subversive, breakbeat-led track "Honey," off her debut album Nymph, her ethereal vocals retain their weightless essence while taking on an equally dreamy form within Devault's four-on-the-floor production. The second single ‘Keep Your Body Pumpin’ is a driving tech house cut with hypnotizing melodies and primed for the club.
