Maceo Plex 'Supasonic' / 'Closer' EP [Lone Romantic]

Maceo Plex continues on a hot streak with a fresh two-tracker on his own Lone Romantic imprint, adding to a run of releases that cements his place as one of electronic music's most consistently compelling figures.

Following July's punishing, neon-drenched outing ‘The Plan’ on Ellum, breakbeat-infused electro and progressive techno EP ‘Monster’ on Rekids, plus a heavily anticipated remix of Empire of the Sun’s seminal DNA – this release broadens Lone Romantic's sonic palette while retaining the future-facing, cinematic and club-ready genre hybridisation the label has become known for.

‘Supasonic’ is driving progressive techno built on fractured, warped vocals, grinding drums and crisp percussion, with a pounding low-end and raw synth work to keep the dancefloor pressure unrelenting. ‘Closer’ operates in deep, elastic territory, warm sub frequencies rolling beneath a brooding vocal and swinging four-to-the-floor rhythm, lifted by lush sci-fi pads to deepen its emotional and cinematic quality.
