PAUZA & Arema Arega - Caliente (Ramon Bedoya & Pablo Lopera Remix)
Ramon Bedoya & Pablo Lopera Rework PAUZA & Arema Arega’s ‘Caliente’ into a Hypnotic Tech House Cut
Get Physical Music revisits PAUZA & Arema Arega’s ‘Caliente’ with a new remix from Colombian producers Ramon Bedoya and Pablo Lopera. Originally released in 2022 as part of PAUZA’s Cuba, Get Physical! project, the track now returns in a stripped-back and club-focused form that places its distinctive vocal into a completely new setting.
Cuban duo PAUZA, formed by Paula Fernández and Zahira Sánchez, have built their identity around the meeting point between electronic music and traditional Afro-Cuban rhythms. With more than 25 million Spotify streams, a Beatport and Traxsource No. 1 with ‘Muy Bien’ feat. Malone, and performances alongside artists including Swedish House Mafia, Gordo, Mochakk and RÜFÜS DU SOL, they have become an established presence on the international electronic scene. Their 2022 Cuba, Get Physical! series was created to shine a light on Cuban artists and sounds through the lens of contemporary house music.
Arema Arega brings an equally broad musical background to the collaboration. The Cuban-Ethiopian singer-songwriter, producer and multidisciplinary artist has worked across jazz, electronic and Cuban music, appearing on projects connected to Gilles Peterson, The Bahama Soul Club and Club des Belugas. Her unmistakable vocal performance remains at the centre of ‘Caliente’.
For the remix, Medellín-based Ramon Bedoya and Pablo Lopera draw on years of experience within Colombia’s house and tech house scene. Bedoya’s groove-driven productions have appeared on labels including Dirtybird, Elrow Music, Repopulate Mars and Circus Recordings, earning support from DJs such as Carl Cox, Jamie Jones, Marco Carola and Paco Osuna. Lopera brings almost two decades behind the decks and in the studio, with performances across Colombia and internationally alongside a long list of major electronic artists.
Their version of ‘Caliente’ strips the original back into a bold, hypnotic tech house cut. Arema Arega’s vocal cuts through a tightly controlled groove built from punchy drums, rolling low end and sparse electronic details. Where the 2022 original was rich with organic percussion, bubbling bass and trumpet textures, the remix takes a cooler and more minimal approach, using repetition and restraint to create tension and impact.
‘Caliente (Ramon Bedoya & Pablo Lopera Remix)’ gives a distinctive track from the Cuba, Get Physical! catalogue a sharp new club context, turning its vocal identity into a focused late-night version for contemporary house floors.
