Lovetempo - There Is A Light

Following a series of brilliant singles, I'm excited to share with you 'There Is A Light', the long-awaited and luscious new LP from lovetempo.

lovetempo is the project of Brooklyn-based musician and vocalist Mattie Safer, also known for his work with Poolside and The Rapture. Blending soul, disco, house, and jazz-funk with soul-baring tenderness and an ear for rhythmic detail, lovetempo’s music is made to move you—emotionally, spiritually, and physically. It’s a project born from longing, shaped by introspection, and driven by a belief in transformation through love and music.

Following a string of acclaimed releases, including 2025’s Live Or Die By Love, the breakout singles “Maybe In Another Life” and “But I Do,” and a self-titled debut on Razor-N-Tape, lovetempo has earned support from tastemakers like Gilles Peterson and Laurent Garnier, along with airplay on BBC 6Music, KEXP, and KCRW. Safer now returns with a debut full-length album, There Is A Light. Introduced in fall 2025 by the singles “The Right Way” and “Wanna Be With You,” the album charts a journey from heartbreak and self-doubt into healing, connection, and self-acceptance. It is Safer’s most personal and expansive work to date, a record about rediscovering your inner light and refusing to give up on love.

Sonically, the album expands lovetempo’s palette, drawing from electronic soul and 70s-inspired dance music while venturing into warmer, stranger, and more emotionally adventurous terrain. Tracks like “Never The Same” and “But I Do” twist club music into warped, jazzy shapes, while “Wanna Be With You,” “Thinking About You,” and “By Your Side” explore the softer edges of quiet-storm R&B, Latin groove, heartbreak funk, and ambient soul. The title track, “There Is A Light,” arrives as a spare, joyful electronic gospel anthem, defiant in its optimism.

Produced with longtime collaborators and mixed by Carlos Truly (Ava Luna, Juan Wauters, Frankie Cosmos), There Is A Light is a deeply human record about resilience, connection, and hope—music that speaks to the heart while keeping bodies moving.
