Vera - Life Round Here

Copenhagen artist/producer Vera covers the brilliant James Blake's 'Life Round Here', ahead of his debut EP release this Friday 8th December - 'Good Job - No Conversation'.

William Asingh, aka Vera, has taken James Blake’s ‘Life Round Here’ and painted it with his signature technicolour strokes. Whilst the skeletal frame of the song remains as Blake intended, Vera’s fresh, slick approach makes it almost unidentifiable from the original.

Vera: “Life Round Here is one of my all-time favourite songs! The idea of covering it came from a recent holiday I took, sitting in a bar and listening to all these compilations that were transforming well known hits into salsa versions.

“I thought it might be fun to do that with this track because salsa is really the last thing that comes to your mind when you think of James Blake.

“The outro of this track reminds me of the soundtrack to my favourite Danish TV series called Rejseholdet*. Lots of muted trumpets and lounge piano!”

The ‘Good Job No Conversation’ EP is released on Friday 8th December through Ultra Records.

Vera is the moniker of Copenhagen’s William Asingh, one of Scandinavia’s most in-demand and relevant young producers. As an integral figure to a slew of breaking acts out of Denmark, including Off Bloom and Liss, Vera has also worked closely with Danish superstar MØ on her recent EP, producing three of its six tracks.

The Good Job No Conversation EP focuses Vera solely on his own sultry output.

The EP collates the singles released by Vera to date + four new tracks including this Blake reworking.
